Daily activities include such things as: making deliveries, rearranging library furniture, straightening or organizing, putting textbooks away, helping teachers or other students, etc.
Shelving - everyone will be assigned at least one section of the library that he/she is responsible for. When you come to the library, immediately check in with Mrs. Coble or Ms. Jorja to see if they have something that needs to be done immediately, then shelve the books in your section. Read your section - make sure that all books are in the correct order and that everything is neat, clean, and organized.
Section 2: Learning 2.0 - The 10 "Things"
You will create a blog and complete the tutorial for the 10 "Things." If a site is blocked at school, I will provide an alternative activity for you to do.
Go toVoice thread. Browse the application. Click on the ‘help’ tab to get to FAQs and tutorials. Take the tutorials to learn how to make a spectacular voice thread.
Look at this example:
Here are the steps to making a Voice Thread:
Select your topic.
Research your topic and take notes from several different sources. For example, you might get facts from a book, from World Book Online, and from a website.
Start a PowerPoint presentation. Label one of your slides "Resources." This is where you will put your citations for the resources that you have used. If you use World Book Online, you can highlight the citation, then copy and paste it to your Resources slide. For the other citations, usehttp://citationmachine.net/. This is a filll-in-the-blank program that will help you create your citations that you will copy and paste on your Resources slide
Find pictures and images that go with your topic. Save them in your Pictures folder.
Add pictures and titles to PowerPoint slides (you must have a minimum of 5 slides but you can have more).
Then you will write a script. Use notebook paper or Word to create your script. Your script will be the information that you will say that will go with each slide. You can keep the information short.
When you are finished, let me approve it.
You will then create a Voice Thread account or you can use mine. You will download your PowerPoint into Voice Thread.
Finally, you will record the information for each slide using the microphone.
Embed your Voice Thread on your blog.
Section 4: Book Project - Animoto
Then go toanimoto. Click on the LEARN MORE video and learn more about how to create your own animoto. If you are 13, you may set up your own free account. You may create projects that are up to 30 seconds in length. If you are under 13 or have a longer project you may use my educational account. These projects can be any length, but I would encourage you to have a project that is no longer than 3 minutes.
Select a book to read. This book must be approved by Mrs. Coble.
After you read your book, write a book review. Look for pictures that will help you share your book in an interesting manner. You may use Destiny to get a copy of the book cover. If you would like to include a picture of yourself with your book, we will need to get permission from a parent.
To make an Animoto book project, you will collect your text (you may want to use Image Generators to display your text) and you will collect your pictures. You put them on Animoto and can add music (they have a library with music that you have permission to use), then you mix it up. This is the fun part. If you don't like it, remix it. Your final product will look something like a movie trailer.
Embed your project in your blog.
Section 5: Discussion
There are 2 discussion questions for Trimester 1. You must have at least 2 entries for each question. This is a school project so you must capitalize the first word in every sentence and all proper nouns, including your name. All sentences must be complete sentences. You must spell all words correctly. There is no spell check on the wiki so you may want to write your response in Word then copy and paste it onto the wiki.Add your discussion comments to the actual Wiki itself, not the comment section.
